TasteMasters UIL
Underground Industry League. Put the Craft in Competition. Coming in 2027.
The Craft Deserves a Proving Ground
You put time into the work. Competition gives you an opportunity to test what that practice has built.
The Underground Industry League is TasteMasters’ home for organized artistic competition. We’re building formats that give distinct crafts their own stage, clear standards, and a competitive history worth following.
Suite16 puts completed records into competition. BARSZ brings lyrical craft into focus. Coast Boss introduces the ambition of regional representation on a national stage.
For artists, UIL offers a challenge to prepare for. For listeners, it creates a reason to listen closely, follow contenders, and witness achievement as it unfolds.
Our competitive chapter begins in 2027. Formats, eligibility, and schedules will be announced as they are established.
Respect the work. Test the craft. Earn the distinction.
Suite16 — Respect the Record.
You’ve shaped the sound, written the words, and brought the record together. How will it stand when the listening becomes competitive?
Suite16 is UIL’s flagship competition for completed musical records. It brings the finished work into focus—the expression created when writing, production, delivery, and artistic choices come together.
The championship journey moves through the Opening Round, Quarter Splash, Semi Splash, and The Grand Splash. Each stage builds a competitive story for artists to earn and listeners to follow.
Which records hold your attention? Which reveal more with another listen? Who brings a sound that stays with you after the music stops?
Coming in 2027. Entry requirements and competition rules will be announced as the format is finalized.
Bring a record worth returning to.
BARSZ — Respect the Pen.
Some lines make you rewind. Others change what you hear the second time around.
BARSZ is UIL’s competition dedicated to lyrical craft—the choices that give language its rhythm, meaning, character, and impact.
Wordplay. Storytelling. Imagery. The structure of a rhyme. The weight of a line. This is a space for writers to bring their command of language into competition, and for listeners to give those choices closer attention.
What makes the verse memorable? What connects beneath the surface? Who can make every word earn its place?
Coming in 2027. BARSZ will have its own format and standards, with competition details announced as they are established.
Something to say. A craft to sharpen. A pen to respect.
Coast Boss — Represent Your Region.
Your sound comes from somewhere. What happens when you carry it onto a national stage?
Coast Boss is UIL’s developing vision for competition across major geographic regions—bringing distinct sounds, local influences, and regional pride into a shared proving ground.
For artists, it creates an ambition to work toward: earning the opportunity to represent your region through your craft. For listeners, it opens a wider conversation about who deserves that distinction—and introduces talent beyond familiar territory.
The Scout Tour helps bring those voices into view. Coast Boss gives that discovery a competitive horizon, with qualification and achievement governed by the League’s forthcoming standards.
Part of the UIL vision taking shape for 2027. Regional boundaries, formats, and entry details will be announced as they are established.
Carry your roots. Command your craft. Earn your place.
The Stage Is Taking Shape
The first chapter of TasteMasters UIL begins in 2027. Until then, keep creating, refining, and giving your craft something to grow toward.
Artists can introduce their work through the TasteMasters artist application. That begins consideration within the broader institution; League entry will follow its own eligibility and selection standards.
The records. The pen. The regions they represent.
A competitive history waiting to be written.
